My Experience using Prompt Engineering
To change my resume, I inserted specific prompts into AI that led it to the exact style and purpose I chose. I first asked AI for two alternate versions of my resume, related to two different fields, which were healthcare and marketing. I was given back to different resumes however they were formatted right and not to my liking. After those first drafts, I was more specific in what I wanted, and requested clearer formatting, incorporated colors, and more professional looking. AI then gave me a couple of options to choose from, including layouts like “bold and professional”, “modern and colored”, or “minimal and clean”. I went with the bold and professional option. I then got to choose my color scheme, so I picked navy blue for my marketing resume as I felt it gave a professional look, and burgundy for my healthcare resume as I felt it was an inviting and professional color.
The biggest changes between these resumes from my original was the tone of the resume. They both felt much more professional, ans my original seemed more directed to smaller, part time jobs. The new versions were straight to the point and obviously directed to professional employers.
Through this process, I learned that prompt engineering is all about being direct and specific with what you want. The more information I gave AI with how I wanted these resumes to look, the more accurate AI was with my results. I also learned how different wording, layouts, and colors can really shape my resume depending on what I want it to be directed towards.
